3 Reliable Ways to Infuse Purpose Into Your Business for Lasting Impact
I just came from a weekend of forest bathing, where I spent Saturday afternoon sitting with the trees. And as I rested beneath their branches, I found myself thinking about something I’ve wrestled with before—the word "purpose."
As a multi-passionate entrepreneur, I’m interested in a ton of things. And no matter how wild or out there they may seem, I want my experiences and my work to be meaningful. That said, the word purpose has always felt a little heavy, a little elusive. Like some big, singular thing I had to define and commit to forever.
But then I looked at the tree I was sitting under.
That tree was fulfilling its purpose (or purposes) just by being. No efforting, no second-guessing, no trying to fit itself into a certain mold—just standing strong, rooted, and offering precisely what it was meant to give.
And it got me thinking about you and a powerful lesson I heard recently about the future of business.
The Only Positioning That Will Matter in the Future
Recently, I attended a session with Doug Stephens, one of the world’s top retail futurists. He spoke about the rapid shifts happening in business today—the rise of AI, shrinking attention spans, and the oversaturation of the market. He posed an important question to us:
In a world where virtually everything that can be sold is being sold, what will make someone choose you?
His answer was simple: In the future, the only positioning that matters is purpose.
Many businesses today are clinging to outdated marketing tactics, rigid hierarchies, and old-school strategies that simply don’t work anymore. They’re chasing trends instead of building something timeless. Though this dynamic is quite prevalent, we are starting to see glimpses of that shifting.
What business and brands will thrive in the weeks, months, and years to come? They’re the ones rooted in something deeper.
This is where you really shine.
While so many businesses are trying to figure out how to create value, impact-driven entrepreneurs like you are already ahead of the curve.
Because the truth is, you don’t have to manufacture purpose—you already have it.
It’s in the way you design your offers.
It’s in the way you show up for your clients.
It’s why you have your business in the first place.
So the real question isn’t Do you have a purpose? (You do.)
It’s: How do you make sure your purpose is fully seen, fully felt, and fully infused into everything you do?

3 Ways To Weave Your Purpose Throughout Your Business
Your purpose isn’t something you add onto your business like it’s some accessory—it’s the glue that holds everything together. The clearer you are on it, the more natural and aligned your marketing, messaging, and client experience will feel.
Here are three ways to ensure your purpose isn’t just something you know deep down—but something your audience can feel in every interaction with you.
1) How often are you talking about your purpose?
You live your life with deep meaning and intention. You help your clients in powerful ways. But how much of that shows up in your messaging? Consider the following questions.
How often do you talk about your values?
When was the last time you shared why your work matters—beyond just what you sell?
Have you articulated the difference your work makes—not just in your clients’ lives, but in the grand scheme of things?
Your audience isn’t just looking for another transformational coach, practitioner, or healer. They’re looking for someone whose values align with theirs. Someone who’s on the same page in the areas where it counts.
Think of your purpose as a magnet. The more clearly you communicate it, the more the right people will be drawn to you.
2) Does your purpose flow through every aspect of your business?
A tree doesn’t just have life in its roots and trunk—it carries that energy to the farthest branches, feeding every leaf, every bud, every new bloom.
Your purpose should do the same.
This is where a quick audit can come in handy. Take a few moments and jot down your observations on the following areas:
Your website—Does your homepage clearly communicate your deeper “why”?
Your Instagram or Facebook bio—Does it reflect what you truly stand for?
Your emails, sales pages, and speaker bios—Are they infused with what makes your work meaningful?
The offers you create—Do they align with your deeper mission? Do they support the kind of world you’d love to see?
Your client experience—Is your purpose reflected in how you work with your clients (i.e. how you deliver your offers)?
This isn’t something you have to overhaul in one sitting. Maybe it’s tweaking a word or two in your bio. Or changing up the headline on your homepage to make your deep mission even clearer. Or adding a line or two on your sales page.
A helpful tip: Sometimes, this type of insight is hard to see for ourselves because we’re so close to our own work. (Ever hear the saying, “The fish can’t see the water” or “The ketchup can’t see the bottle”? This is that.)
So, if you’re finding it tough to answer the above questions, here are a couple of options to help get you going:
Option 1: Ask a trusted person to look over your messaging with fresh eyes. Choose someone who knows you well and can shoot it to you straight. Ask them: Does this reflect my purpose or why I do what I do? If not, where does it feel vague or unclear?
Option 2: If no one is available or you’d rather do it yourself, I’ve put together a simple workbook to help you explore these questions on your own. Download a free copy here and walk yourself through the prompts:
(FYI—Grabbing this workbook also signs you up for my emails. About once a week, I email out stories, tips, and resources on messaging + storytelling for online businesses. No spam, just the good stuff!)
When your purpose is fully embedded in and throughout your business, something magical happens. It stops being something you just talk about and starts being something your audience feels.
3) How can communicating your purpose feel easier?
The simplest—and arguably most enjoyable—way to share your deeper why? It’s through storytelling.
Stories make your mission come alive. They build trust, emotional connection, and rapport with your reader—without it feeling like “marketing.” Storytelling is the most natural “hack” to sharing something in a way that resonates deeply with your audience.
Because your purpose isn’t just a statement. It’s alive in the moments you experience, the transformations you help bring about, and the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
So instead of telling people what you believe in…Show them.
Here are a few ideas on how to do that:
Share a moment when you realized why the work you do mattered. Paint the picture.
Tell the story of a client who experienced a specific transformation. Get detailed.
Open up about a personal challenge that shaped the way you do business. Be vulnerable.
Not sure where to start? Knowing your natural storytelling strengths is a great first step and can make all the difference in the world.
I put together a short, super fun quiz that helps you uncover your unique storytelling style so you can learn how to share your message with greater ease and in a way that’s true to you. (Plus, it’s themed after one of my favorite shows from the 80s, which we can all agree is a fabulous decade.) Go take the quiz here! 👇
Root Deep, Grow Strong, & Share Your Purpose
The thing is—you’re already a person of depth, meaning, and impact. Like that tree I sat under, you are full of presence and brimming with wisdom. You are rooted in something real.
Soon, that tree will put out new leaves. It will generate new energy and bring forth new life. All the while, it’ll continue standing strong. Fully rooted. Fully present.
And just like that tree, may your purpose run through every aspect of your business—from the roots to the trunk to the branches and the farthest out leaves. Because when it does? It sparks life. It brings vitality. It inspires growth—not just for you, but for the people you’re here to serve.
Remember—Infusing your mission throughout your business doesn’t have to be complicated. Small steps lead to big impact. Pick one today to focus on—whether it’s telling stories, sharing a particular value, or doing a quick audit. A little goes a long way.
Before you know it, your audience won’t just know your mission, they’ll feel it in every interaction with you.
